Review Bygone Oriental Pottery Coffee Cups Saucers Bowl Mount Fuji / Oriental:A superb old hand painted Japanese pottery set of six coffee cups and saucers and a large 11 inch tab handled bowl. All are decorated with a very finely executed view of Mount Fuji in gilt. Stamped to the reverse with the maker's mark. Each cup stands about 1 5/8 inches 4cms high and has a diameter of 2 inches 5cms, whilst the saucer's diameter is 4 3/4 inches 12cms. The bowl stands about 2 3/4 inches 7cms high and measures some 11 inches 28cms across. The decoration is quite faded on most of the pieces with the saucers fairing the best. No chips, cracks or repairs. The set weighs a surprising 1. 5Kgs hence the high international shipping costs.

Charming pattern, however, unknown pattern name. Pattern number is hand painted to the base but difficult to decipher, at a guess something like B 409. Colours are still vibrant, gilding a little worn in places. Other than that in good condition, with no chips or cracks. Clearly marked with the Royal Worcester mark for the period. Cup measures 2 1/2 inches (6 1/2 cm) in height, and weighs unpackaged 100 grammes.

Review c1910 James Kent Ye Olde Foley Ware blue and white breakfast cup and saucer / James Kent:An enormous and beautifully decorated Ye Olde Foley Ware breakfast cup and saucer by James Kent of Fenton, Staffordshire Potteries. Dates to around 1910. The cup and saucer are decorated in a Dutch style with windmills and country scenes in blue and white transfer. The cup stands 4 inches 10cms high whilst the saucer's diameter is an impressive 8. 5 inches 22cms. Looks like it will hold about 1. 25 pints of tea. Some crazing to the inside of the cup in particular, but no chips, cracks or repairs. Made from earthenware.

Very decorative interior to the cup with a beautiful shade of green and floral display to the base inside the cup. Elaborate gilding to both the gently scalloped rim, handle and foot of cup and rim of saucer and to the pattern itself. In good condition, with no chips or cracks, and clearly marked to the base with Paragon Star China, subsequently became Paragon China. Mark dates piece to c1913. Cup measures 2 1/2 inches (6 1/2 cm) from table to top part of the handle, and the saucer measures just short of 5 inches (12 1/2 cm) in diameter. Unknown pattern name, but pattern number is F389. Gilder's mark also to the base. Weighs unpackaged 160 grammes.
