Review Riedel Vinum 6416/30 Syrah / Shiraz Set of 2 Glasses / Riedel Crystal (UK) Ltd:The Vinum Syrah Glass is recommended, by Riedel, for the following wines/grape varieties: Amarone Grenache Pinotage Barbera Hermitage (red) Priorato Blaufränkisch Malbec Shiraz Carmenère. Mourvèdre, Syrah Châteauneuf-Du-Pape, Petit Sirah Tannat. Designed in the mid 1990's by Georg Riedel and a group of noted Syrah growers these glasses are pretty sophisticated bits of kit. I'm told that the Australian grape Shiraz grown in the major Syrah wine areas has a nose of intense rich blackberry aromas. On the palate it shows mouth filling fruit, massive structure and a long sweet finish! Be that as it may, this glass does for Syrah wines what the other Riedel designs do so incredibly well. They all have a profound not to say dramatic effect on the flavour you taste.
